Evo Defense Merge TD Tier List – Meta Units for Stage 90+

If you have pushed deep into Evo Defense Merge TD, you already know that the game changes a lot once you pass the mid-game. Early stages let you experiment with random units and fun builds, but once you reach Stage 50 and especially Stage 90+, enemy health pools explode and weak units simply cannot keep up.

At that point, your entire strategy revolves around high scaling damage, wave control, and strong summon tanks. Some heroes suddenly become mandatory, while others fall off completely.

After testing late-game setups and observing how each unit performs in longer matches, here is a clear breakdown of the current meta tier list and why each unit sits where it does.

S Tier

These heroes dominate the late game. If you are serious about pushing high stages, these units will form the backbone of your team.

Sword Immortal

Sword Immortal is one of those heroes that many players underestimate early on. At low levels it feels average, and a lot of players bench it before it has a chance to shine.

However, once you fully commit to upgrading it, the scaling becomes extremely strong. Its damage spikes dramatically in longer matches and it becomes one of the best units for fast wave clearing in late stages.

This hero rewards patience. If you build it properly, it transforms from “just okay” into a core DPS unit that melts waves consistently.

Annie

Annie is easily one of the most important units in the current meta, but not for the reason most people expect.

Her bear summon is the real star.

The bear is incredibly tanky, taunts enemies, pushes waves back, and buys your entire team valuable time. While Annie might not always top the damage charts, the crowd control and stall potential she brings is insane.

Late game survival often depends on slowing enemies down long enough for your damage dealers to finish them off, and Annie does exactly that.

She becomes even stronger when paired with Sea King, creating one of the most stable defensive lanes in the game.

Amnesia

Amnesia is a pure damage monster.

Unlike Annie or Thunder, this hero doesn’t focus on control or utility. Instead, it provides massive burst damage with incredible scaling.

Once protected by tanks and summons, Amnesia can shred through the enormous health pools found in Stage 90+. That kind of raw damage becomes essential when enemies start surviving multiple ability rotations.

If your team already has proper defense and control, Amnesia often becomes the main damage carry of the entire setup.

Thunder

Thunder remains one of the most reliable units in the game.

Its chain lightning ability clears waves extremely efficiently, and once it reaches higher levels the paralyze effect begins triggering frequently, which can completely stop enemy pushes.

What makes Thunder special is consistency.

You do not need perfect bonds or complex setups. It simply works. Drop it into your build and it will provide stable AoE damage throughout the entire match.

Because of this reliability, many late-game players consider Thunder the king of wave clearing.

Angel

Angel is arguably one of the strongest heroes in the entire game from a pure power perspective.

Its burst windows are ridiculous. When its abilities trigger, enemies can disappear from the map almost instantly.

However, there is one big limitation: accessibility.

Angel is not very F2P friendly, and many players simply won’t have it fully optimized. But if you do manage to build it properly, it becomes an absolute boss-killer and wave destroyer.

In high-stage content where enemies have massive health pools, Angel acts like a delete button for the battlefield.

A Tier

These heroes are excellent and work very well in the late game, but they rely more on synergy or specific setups to reach their full potential.

Sea King

Sea King shines the most when paired with Annie.

On its own, the unit performs well thanks to its durable summons that can hold the frontline. But when combined with Annie’s bear, the lane becomes extremely stable.

Enemies stop rushing through your defenses and instead get stalled long enough for your damage dealers to eliminate them.

While Sea King usually doesn’t top damage charts, its defensive value makes it extremely valuable in summoner-focused builds.

Athena

Athena is one of those heroes that players often underestimate until they remove it from their team.

Her strength lies in attack speed buffs and scaling damage bonuses.

The stronger your carry units are, the more valuable Athena becomes. In longer matches where your main DPS units are heavily upgraded, Athena’s buffs start multiplying their damage output significantly.

She may not look flashy, but she quietly boosts the entire team’s performance.

Fire Mage

Fire Mage can produce incredible damage numbers thanks to its massive critical hit potential.

When everything lines up correctly, this unit can absolutely demolish waves.

The only downside is inconsistency. Cooldowns and damage spikes sometimes feel unreliable compared to Thunder, which performs more steadily.

Still, in the right setup, Fire Mage remains a powerful damage option for mid-to-late game teams.

Cannon

Cannon is a solid AoE damage dealer that performs particularly well when enemies are grouped together.

Its bomb explosions deal strong area damage, making it extremely effective in slow or crowd-control focused builds.

While it cannot match Thunder’s reliability, Cannon still provides strong wave damage and works very well in teams that focus on enemy grouping and stalling.

B Tier

These heroes can perform well, especially during progression, but they usually get replaced by stronger options in the late game.

Ice Mage

Ice Mage is a favorite among early and mid-game players because of its freeze and slow abilities.

These effects make early progression much safer and easier to manage.

However, once you reach high stages, the damage scaling starts falling behind, and stronger units begin to take its place.

Ice Mage is still helpful early on, but it rarely stays in final late-game builds.

Snow Princess

Snow Princess has some interesting synergy with freezing mechanics and summons, which can make certain stage combinations easier.

However, the main issue is lack of strong class bond scaling, which limits its long-term effectiveness.

Because of this, it often feels a bit situational. It can work in some setups, but most players eventually move toward stronger A-tier or S-tier options.

C Tier

These heroes can help during the early stages but struggle to remain relevant later.

Black Widow

Black Widow focuses on crowd control with web effects and damage-over-time abilities.

While this sounds good in theory, the overall damage scaling simply isn’t strong enough to compete in late-game stages.

It works fine early on but falls off heavily once enemy health starts increasing dramatically.

Blademaster

Blademaster specializes in single-target damage, which initially feels strong against early bosses.

The problem is that late-game stages rely heavily on AoE wave clearing, and Blademaster lacks the scaling necessary to handle large enemy groups.

Eventually, it gets replaced by more efficient damage dealers.

D Tier

These units are generally not worth investing resources into.

Shroomie

Shroomie has an interesting concept but unfortunately lacks the scaling required to remain useful in later stages.

Most players end up using it as merge material for stronger units rather than keeping it on the board.

Digo

Digo offers temporary stalling, but the impact is very limited.

Instead of investing resources here, it is far better to focus on stronger heroes like Thunder or Annie.

Kaka

Kaka may provide some minor utility in the earliest stages, but it quickly becomes obsolete.

By the time you approach Stage 90+, keeping Kaka on the board is simply wasting space that could be used for stronger heroes.

Best Late Game Team

For players pushing Stage 90 and beyond, the most stable meta setups usually revolve around a few key roles:

Wave Clear: Thunder, Cannon
Main DPS: Amnesia, Angel, Sword Immortal
Tank / Stall: Annie, Sea King
Support Buffs: Athena

A balanced setup with damage, control, and survivability is what allows teams to survive the extremely long waves in high-stage gameplay.

Late-game Evo Defense Merge TD is less about experimenting and more about optimizing synergy between a small group of powerful units.

The strongest builds typically rely on:

• Reliable AoE damage
• Summon tanks to stall waves
• Buff units to scale DPS
• Burst damage to handle high HP enemies

If you focus your upgrades on the S-tier and A-tier heroes, progression through Stage 90+ becomes dramatically easier.
