Workers are a crucial resource in the early stages of the game. They come in various types and can be obtained in different ways such as recruiting them in the Worker Camp, exploring your City Territory, and completing Staging Post quests. Workers can aid you in gathering resources in your City Territory, which are essential for your growth. They are also required for certain tasks. It’s beneficial to know how to assign Workers in Viking Rise to the appropriate tasks. In this Viking Rise guide we will discuss everything you need to know about Workers.
Worker Quality & Specialty
Workers are divided into different quality levels, from the lowest to the highest: Lazy Worker (D), Ordinary Worker (C), Diligent Worker (B), Skilled Worker (A), and Seasoned Worker (S). Generally, the higher the worker’s quality, the more efficient they will be.
In addition to quality, each worker also has their own unique specialty. There are 7 types of specialties, each with their own effects.
Specialties are categorized into 7 types
Specialty type – Builder
- Effect: Reduces time needed for the construction and upgrade of buildings by a fixed amount,
- Buildings Affected: Builder’s Hut
Specialty type – Researcher
- Effect: Reduces time needed for research by a fixed amount.
- Buildings Affected: Academy
Specialty type – Scout
- Effect: Increases Eagles’ March Speed by a certain percentage.
- Buildings Affected: Eagle’s Nest
Specialty type – Trainer

- Buildings Affected: Infantry Barracks, Pikemen Barracks, Archer Barracks, Porter Barracks
Specialty type – Manager

- Buildings Affected: Resource Hut, Supply Hub, Prison
Specialty type – Handyman
- Effect: Reduces time taken for errands by a certain percentage.
- Buildings Affected: No related building. This specialty takes effect when running errands in the City Territory, such as hunting, fishing, and more.
Specialty type – Forgeman
- Effect: Reduces time taken to forge Equipment by a certain percentage
- Buildings Affected: Smithy
If you have workers of the same quality, the workers with specialties will be more efficient than those without. For example, consider the two images below. Even though they are both Diligent Workers, Lorraine, who is a Researcher, can reduce the research time by 2 minutes. On the other hand, Oman, who is not a Researcher, can only reduce the time by 50 seconds.
With the exception of Handymen, workers need to be placed in the appropriate buildings for their specialty to take effect. Therefore, it’s important to check a worker’s specialty before assigning them to a task.

If you want to avoid assigning each worker individually, you can use the “Assign All” button. There are two types of settings: prioritizing by specialty or prioritizing by attribute. If you choose to prioritize by specialty, workers with the corresponding specialty will be assigned to the task first. If you prioritize by attributes, workers with the best attributes will be assigned to the task first.
As a chief, you can decide which task to assign workers to based on your current needs. Additionally, you can adjust the settings of the “Assign All” button so that workers will automatically be assigned based on the priority order you have selected.
In summary, Workers are a vital resource in the early stages of Viking Rise, and they come in various types and can be obtained in different ways such as recruiting them in the Worker Camp, exploring your City Territory, and completing Staging Post quests.
