Last Asylum Plague Buildings Guide – Requirements, Upgrade

Your base in Last Asylum Plague is more than just a collection of buildings. Every structure plays a role in strengthening your army, improving resource production, or unlocking new systems. Understanding how these buildings work — and upgrading them in the right order — is essential for steady progress.

One important rule governs the entire base system: the Sanctuary level limits the level of every other building. This means long-term development always revolves around upgrading the Sanctuary first and then improving supporting buildings around it.

A balanced building strategy prevents common problems like slow troop training, weak research bonuses, or limited healing capacity.

Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is the most important structure in the game. Every other building depends on it because their maximum level cannot exceed the Sanctuary’s current level.

Upgrading the Sanctuary provides several major benefits.

First, it increases your overall might, which reflects the strength of your base and army. Higher might also improves your standing in alliances and events.

Second, it increases your hero level cap. As your Sanctuary grows, your heroes can reach higher levels, allowing them to gain more stats and stronger skills.

Third, Sanctuary upgrades improve several hero attributes, including:

  • Hero HP
  • Hero attack
  • Hero defense

These boosts strengthen every squad you send into battle.

In addition to stat bonuses, upgrading the Sanctuary also unlocks new buildings and provides experience rewards. These unlocks expand your base functionality and open up new progression systems.

Because of its importance, the Sanctuary should always be one of your highest priorities.

Builder’s Hut

During the early stages of the game, the Builder’s Hut becomes extremely valuable.

This building provides free construction speedups, allowing you to reduce upgrade timers without spending diamonds. Construction timers grow longer as building levels increase, so these speedups can save a large amount of time.

The Builder’s Hut works best when its level stays close to your Sanctuary level. Keeping it upgraded ensures you continue receiving useful construction bonuses as your base expands.

Inside the building, you can assign survivors who provide additional bonuses. Some survivors offer better effects than others, so replacing them with stronger workers can improve construction efficiency.

Research Lab

The Research Lab is where you unlock technologies that strengthen your entire base.

Research provides many different types of bonuses. Some technologies focus on combat strength, improving troop stats and hero effectiveness. Others boost your economic development by increasing resource production or reducing costs.

Because research bonuses apply permanently, they are one of the most powerful ways to increase your overall strength.

Keeping the Research Lab upgraded ensures you can unlock higher-level technologies and continue strengthening both your military and economy.

Barracks and Training Grounds

These two buildings often confuse new players because both relate to troops. However, their roles are completely different.

The Barracks determines the type of troops you can recruit. Upgrading this building unlocks stronger troop tiers, which significantly increases the power of your army.

Higher-tier troops have better combat stats and perform much better in battles against both players and monsters.

The Training Grounds, on the other hand, affect troop capacity. This building increases how many troops you can train and command at the same time.

Together, these buildings control both the quality and quantity of your army. Upgrading them regularly ensures your military remains competitive as the game progresses.

Infirmary

Not every soldier lost in battle is permanently destroyed. Many wounded troops are instead sent to the Infirmary.

The Infirmary’s main purpose is to heal injured troops so they can return to your army.

When a battle ends, critically wounded soldiers are placed in the Infirmary. To recover them, you must spend resources such as medicine, gold, or time.

Once healing is complete, these troops become available again and can rejoin future battles.

Keeping the Infirmary upgraded increases its capacity, allowing it to hold and heal more wounded troops. Without enough capacity, additional wounded soldiers may be lost permanently.

Building Upgrade Strategy

While it may be tempting to upgrade everything at once, a more strategic approach produces better results.

The most effective upgrade rhythm usually looks like this:

Upgrade the Sanctuary whenever possible to raise the overall building level cap.
Keep the Builder’s Hut upgraded so construction speed remains high.
Improve the Research Lab to unlock stronger technologies.
Upgrade Barracks and Training Grounds to strengthen and expand your army.
Expand the Infirmary to reduce permanent troop losses after battles.

Following this cycle ensures both your military and economy develop together.

Buildings form the foundation of progression in Last Asylum Plague. While heroes and troops determine the outcome of battles, the strength behind them comes from your base.

Prioritizing Sanctuary upgrades, maintaining construction efficiency through the Builder’s Hut, investing in research, and expanding your army infrastructure will create steady growth in power.

A well-developed base not only supports stronger heroes and troops but also prepares you for the more difficult challenges that appear later in the game.
