Factions in Windward Horizon shape your journey — they influence the ships you can unlock, the quests you undertake, and even the customizations you gain. Every faction has its own ideals, style, colors, and representatives.
Quests provide lore, faction reputation, and unlock hidden ships — including some you won’t find in your port until you complete the right storyline.
All Factions & Representatives
There are currently six factions in-game, each with unique lore, missions, and rewards. Here’s who you’ll meet and what they stand for:
1. Free Navy (White)
- Reps: Elvanora Mitrini or Basher Jarov
- Ideals: Freedom, independence, and breaking chains.
- Color Code: White sails
- Unlocks: Xebec ship

2. Valiant (Red)
- Rep: Roger Wales
- Ideals: Justice, discipline, and order.
- Color Code: Red
- Unlocks: Tides of Justice storyline progression

3. Consulate (Green)
- Reps: Sonya Rivaldi or Alvana Visconti
- Ideals: Politics, power, and quiet control.
- Color Code: Green
- Unlocks: Caravel ship + Syndicate faction

Suitor’s Folly
- Find a portrait of a blonde woman while treasure hunting (you’ll need a crew member with the Treasure Hunting skill).
- Return it to Alvana Visconti.
- Get approached by Rafael Vojante to join the Consulate (if your rep is high enough).
- Wait a few in-game days and return to Alvana to progress further.
4. Sojourn (Blue)
- Reps: Yrin T’Shen or Abe Lugaro
- Ideals: Spirituality, mystery, and exploration.
- Color Code: Blue
- Unlocks: Bilander ship + Blue Flames customization

- Rep: Sonya Rivaldi (after completing Threads of Deception)
- Ideals: Shadows, deception, and manipulation.
- Color Code: Purple
- Unlocks: Accessible only after finishing the full Consulate storyline.
How to Join (or Change) a Faction
If you want to switch sides or join another faction:
- Gain 500+ reputation with the desired faction (do missions, help them in battles, trade, co-op instances).
- Complete their introductory quest.
- Look for new quests at towns — they’ll show up once eligible.
- Talk to the rep and accept the quest to join.
Want to switch back?
Go to your inventory > customization tab, and click the faction icon. You can swap factions, but there’s a cooldown (usually 1 hour).
