The Bleakest Keep Guide – Creature & Boss Walkthrough

This The Bleakest Keep Guide provides a complete breakdown of the enemies and bosses in The Bleakest Keep. It includes regular enemy types, special creatures, all major bosses, and practical advice for surviving key encounters. Bonus notes and advanced mechanics are also included.

The Bleakest Keep Guide – Creature & Boss Walkthrough

Regular Creatures

Regular Zombie
Basic melee enemy. Sometimes uses a sword, sometimes fists. Attacks slowly and can be staggered easily.

Fast Zombie
Similar to the regular zombie but moves quicker. Slightly less health. Prioritize quickly if multiple enemies are present.

Heavy Zombie
Larger version of the standard zombie. Resistant to stuns during melee attacks and significantly tankier. Requires more deliberate dodging or ranged pressure.

Fly
A flying nuisance that spits projectiles. Best handled with ranged weapons or the dagger special ability in early-game. Two melee hits or one good ranged shot will usually eliminate them.

Bones Jones
A skeleton that throws bones from a distance. Matches the health of a regular zombie. Often serves as a mid-range distraction during fights.

Special Creatures

Cyclops Giant
A powerful melee threat with multi-hit combos. Dangerous in close quarters but vulnerable at range. If you parry the first swing of his combo, the second will pass through due to invulnerability frames.
Tip: Use him to trigger friendly fire on other enemies. Headshots bring him down faster. Be prepared to parry the boulder he kicks.

Banshee
A flying enemy with high evasion. Matrix-style dodges make headshots unreliable. Stronger than flies, with knockdown potential. Better dealt with using sustained ranged fire or reliable crowd control.

Werewolf
One of the most dangerous enemies if not fought solo. Extremely aggressive with fast melee combos. Crippling its leg with a shot slows it down, but this is difficult in high-pressure situations. Parrying is essential.

Manbat / Winged Demon
Can be grounded by shooting off a wing, turning it into a slow melee enemy. Headshots while airborne will drop it, buying breathing room. Particularly vulnerable to frying pan hits and explosive rifles.

Heavier Zombie
An armored version of the heavy zombie, equipped with a shotgun. You can break the armor over time or target the head while it’s aiming. Considered a mid-tier elite enemy.

Bosses

Eadgar
Main attacks include a quick two-hit melee combo, a teleporting dash attack, and a flame slam that leaves burning ground. The flame trail can damage and stunlock you if you land in it.
He also uses a shotgun with a slow aim animation. At 30% health, all his actions speed up.
Tip: Stay mobile and bait his slam to avoid being cornered.

Arachne
Spider-like boss. At a distance, it uses a ranged spit attack, jump attack, and a dash-lunge. At close range, it performs a leg sweep, forward poke, or the same dash-lunge.
Tip: Shotguns and spread weapons are ideal due to its large hitbox. Be cautious of its sudden drop from the ceiling—it can damage you on impact.

Queen Elenid
Casts magic and summons zombies to pressure you. Her attack pattern includes:

  • Pistol 3-shot burst
  • Charged explosive shot
  • Firebolt
  • Lightning blast
  • Bomb throw
  • Physical backhand

She also turns invisible and moves while cloaked.
Tip: Projectiles (daggers, arrows) remain visible when stuck in her. Use this to track her position.

Cormac
Extremely strong boss with both ranged and melee pressure.
Ranged attacks include:

  • Four-way flame lines
  • Arena-wide sweep
  • Lightning bolt
  • Firebolt barrage

Melee attacks include:

  • Two types of dropkicks
  • Fast close-range punches

He can knock you off the platform with his kicks.
Tip: Avoid edges. Save up parts for a legendary weapon before the fight. Most legendaries work well here, especially headshot-based types.

Juliet (Character Note)

Juliet is a recurring character and is referenced humorously by the guide’s author. She has multiple cosmetic skins, with the 10-coin skin being a fan favorite. Her idle animations include floating or pretending to sit on objects, sometimes barrels.

Bonus Tips and Fun Details

  • Hanging corpses can be shot to drop small amounts of gold.
  • The dagger and kick are the most practical special abilities. Others often have long wind-ups.
  • Bullets curve slightly when fired from moving platforms like the clocktower gears.
  • The best weapons for general use include:
    • Hand cannon
    • Shotgun
    • Flamethrower
    • Lever-action shotgun
    • Rifle
    • Any legendary (especially the revolver that triggers effects on heavy zombie headshots)
