Dragon Quest Smash/Grow Metal Slime Tickets Guide

If you’ve been burning through Metal Tickets and not seeing massive XP gains, something’s off. Metal Slime runs are easily the fastest way to level up in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow, but only if you play them right. This isn’t just about jumping in and hoping for good RNG. There’s actually a smart way to approach every run so you squeeze out the absolute maximum XP.

Let’s break it down properly so you stop wasting tickets and start power leveling efficiently.

How to Get Metal Tickets Without Slowing Your Progress

Before anything else, you need a steady supply of tickets. A lot of players ignore this part and then wonder why they can’t farm consistently.

The easiest method is through weekly feats. Once you hit the required milestone, you’ll earn a Metal Ticket. It’s simple, passive, and something you should already be doing.

But the real grind comes from the release celebration token shop. You can buy up to five tickets daily, which is huge. Each ticket costs tokens, and those tokens come from basically any activity that has the event banner on it.

Story missions work fine, but co-op is where things feel faster and more rewarding. Plus, co-op isn’t just efficient, it’s actually fun, which makes the grind less painful.

If you’re serious about leveling, you should be capping those daily ticket purchases every single day.

Best Class for Metal Slime

You might think any class works as long as you’re strong enough. That’s not true.

Mage is easily the best vocation for this mode. The reason is simple but powerful. Its trait slowly charges your ultimate ability over time. That alone changes everything.

Metal Slimes are slippery. Your normal attacks will miss a lot, and that’s where most players lose XP. But your ultimate ability almost always hits. So the more often you can use it, the more slimes you delete, and the more XP you gain.

Other classes can work, sure, but they just don’t have the same consistency when it comes to landing hits on Metal Slimes.

If your goal is maximum XP, Mage is not optional. It’s the play.

Weapon Choices

Now let’s talk about weapons, because this is where your efficiency skyrockets or falls apart.

If you have access to metal weapons from the banner, you’re already ahead. The two best options are:

  • Metal Boomerang
  • Metal Slime Sword

The Metal Boomerang stands out because of its multi-hit potential. It pairs insanely well with certain blessings that let your attacks hit more enemies. That means more chances to hit Metal Slimes.

The Metal Slime Sword is also solid, especially because it deals bonus damage to metal enemies, but it’s slightly less flexible compared to the boomerang setup.

If you don’t have either, don’t worry. A regular boomerang still works. You’ll just rely more on blessings to compensate.

The Blessing Trick

This is where things get interesting, and honestly, where most players mess up.

Blessings follow predetermined paths. That means if you enter a run and don’t complete it, the blessing options will stay the same when you retry.

So here’s the trick:

If you don’t get the blessing you need, quit the run immediately. You won’t lose your ticket.

Now you can re-enter and try a different path to reach the blessing you want.

This saves you from wasting runs on bad setups.

Blessing

If you’re not using metal weapons, your priority is clear.

You want Scatter Shot.

This blessing allows your attacks to hit behind you and cover more area. Since Metal Slimes are fast and hard to target, this dramatically increases your chances of landing hits.

If you are using a metal weapon, especially the boomerang, you have another strong option.

Ricochet-style enchantments.

These make your ranged attacks bounce between enemies, turning your attacks into multi-hit chains. You don’t absolutely need Scatter Shot in this case, but having at least one of these effects is critical.

No multi-hit or spread effect means lower hit chances, which means lower XP. It’s that simple.

Once you’re inside the run, execution matters just as much as setup.

First thing, switch to Mage immediately so your ultimate starts charging.

As you move through the level, pay attention to targeting. There’s a small indicator showing which enemy you’re focused on. This matters more than people think.

Do not waste your ultimate on random enemies.

Wait until you’re targeting a Metal Slime, then fire it instantly. That’s your guaranteed hit.

Also, don’t rush blindly. Break objects, gather charge, and position yourself so your attacks hit as many enemies as possible.

The goal isn’t speed alone. It’s efficiency.

Once you start using this setup properly, you’ll notice the difference immediately. Levels come faster, stats increase quicker, and progression feels smooth instead of grindy.

The biggest mistake players make is treating Metal Slime runs casually. They’re not just another mode. They’re your main XP engine.

Play them smart, and you’ll stay ahead of the curve without burning resources.
