Titan Awakening Tier List Guide – Best Characters
Titan Awakening has entered a very rigid meta where only a handful of characters actually decide battles. Many heroes look powerful on paper but fall apart once you move into mid and late-game PvP or high-difficulty PvE. This tier list separates the true meta-defining units from early-game fillers so you can invest your resources correctly and avoid long-term mistakes.
S+ Tier – Meta Defining Characters
These heroes completely shape the battlefield and should always be prioritized for upgrades and team slots.
Annie (Female Titan)
Annie delivers the highest burst physical damage in the game and shuts down healing entirely through her Crystal Rift debuff. Her temporary invulnerability makes her extremely difficult to eliminate during her damage cycle, allowing her to wipe priority targets safely. Any team that lacks Annie is immediately at a disadvantage in competitive content.
Eren (Attack Titan)
Eren stands as the strongest multi-line AoE damage dealer in the entire game. His ability to ignore defense allows him to delete both tanks and backline units in a single rotation. His transformation also grants temporary immunity from death during combos, making his offensive windows almost unstoppable.
Annie (Training Core)
This version of Annie specializes in crushing tanks. Her Bone Fracture debuff constantly shreds enemy durability, and even her basic attacks apply pressure. She dominates boss fights and high-defense frontlines, making her one of the most feared single-target nukers in the game.
Armin (Diplomat)
Armin is the backbone of top-tier team compositions. His damage-sharing mechanic protects the entire team, while his AoE healing keeps everyone alive during prolonged engagements. The fury enhancement he provides turns strong teams into unstoppable engines of destruction.
S Tier – High Meta Units
These heroes provide extremely strong value and form the core of competitive teams.
Bertholdt (Colossal Titan)
Bertholdt applies sunlight immobilization and burn damage over wide areas, making him one of the most reliable long-range damage dealers. His AoE control and damage over time effects dominate group battles.
Dot Garrison
Dot stacks strategic marks that explode into massive unavoidable damage. His self-healing, anti-assault triggers, and death-down debuffs make him one of the most self-sufficient and oppressive units in the game.
Hange (Survey Core)
Hange offers strong crowd control with paralysis and imprisonment effects while slowing enemy actions. She is beginner-friendly and highly effective when used correctly, though timing her imprisonment is critical for maximum impact.
Keith (Garrison CDR)
Keith is a rearline marksman who synergizes perfectly with Dot Garrison. His death-down debuff and stacked explosion synergy make him one of the strongest support DPS units in coordinated team setups.
Ymir (Jaw Titan)
Ymir functions as a powerful rear debuffer with heal-down, lifesteal, and RNG-based control effects. Her uncleanseable delusion buff can completely dismantle enemy strategies when it triggers correctly.
Willy Tybur
Willy is the strongest AoE healer and buffer available. He provides massive attack boosts, fury chance increases, and sustained regeneration that turns ordinary teams into overwhelming forces.
Porco (Jaw Titan)
Porco specializes in rear executions. He can fully heal allies upon death triggers and applies anti-revive effects that permanently remove key enemy targets from the field.
Reiner (Armored Titan)
Reiner is a late-game defensive monster. His massive damage sharing, injury application, and buff restrictions make him the strongest frontline wall in high-level PvP and boss content.
A Tier – Situational Picks
These units work early and in specific compositions but fall off heavily later.
Connie (Survey Core)
Provides stuns and speed but suffers from unreliable RNG and low DPS, making him inconsistent in serious content.
Eren (Survey Core)
Offers defense-ignoring basics and self-healing but lacks late-game scaling, causing him to become obsolete quickly.
Eren (Training Core)
Useful as a starter unit with heal-down and regeneration, but becomes nothing more than upgrade fodder later.
Floch
Has paralysis control and thunder buffs but suffers from zero burst damage and unreliable setups.
Lara
Strong survivability and purge tools but lacks offensive pressure, turning her into a stall-focused pick rather than a win condition.
Mikasa (Survey Core)
Execution-based damage relies heavily on specific team synergies, making her weak outside optimized setups.
Mike (Survey Core)
A niche explosion-based unit that lacks consistency and competitive reliability.
If your goal is to dominate Titan Awakening’s current meta, your priority should always be building around Annie, Eren (Attack Titan), Armin, and Annie (Training Core). These four define the strongest team cores available. S Tier units then fill support, control, and damage roles depending on your strategy, while A Tier units should only be used temporarily during early progression.
