Empires & Puzzles Bartholomew & Elsbeth (Valiant Vegetable)
The Harvest Summon in Version 79 introduces a quirky but powerful new family: the Valiant Vegetables. Leading the way are two new legendary heroes, Bartholomew and Elsbeth. Both come with unique passives and a family bonus that’s designed to shift how players approach battles. Let’s break them down.
Empires & Puzzles Bartholomew & Elsbeth (Valiant Vegetable Family)
The Valiant Vegetable Family Bonus
2 Heroes: Fiends and Mega Fiends summoned by these heroes gain +5% Attack and +2% Health.
3 Heroes: Fiends and Mega Fiends gain +10% Attack and +3% Health.
Right now, there are only two Valiant Vegetables, so the bonus is limited, but it’s clear this family will expand over time.
Passive Abilities (shared by both):
Empowered Resist Special Skill Blocking – They are immune to ailments that stop special skills. Whenever they resist, they gain +450 boosted health and +5% mana, which can swing fights back in their favor.
- Seedling Summoner – At the end of every turn, they summon a fiend that evolves over time:
- Seedling Fiend: 50% attack / 15% health
- Sprout Fiend: 70% attack / 25% health (after 2 turns)
- Blossom Mega Fiend: 250% attack / 60% health (after 2 more turns)
This evolution mechanic makes them extremely threatening on defense, as fiends keep spawning passively and grow more dangerous if unchecked.
Bartholomew (Fire/Red – Barbarian Class)
Base Stats (no emblems):
- Attack: 1293
- Defense: 1258
- Health: 2173
Max Path Stats:
- Attack: 1820
- Defense: 1587
- Health: 3030
Mana Speed: Average
Special Skill – Harvest’s Wrath
- Deals 300% damage to the target and nearby enemies.
- Gains +15% extra damage for each fiend/mega fiend on enemies (up to 450% total).
- Safely removes two buffs/stacks/growth effects from each target, including undispellable effects.
- Gains 7% boosted health for every effect removed (can exceed max HP).
- Caster and nearby allies counterattack with 110% of the damage received for 4 turns.
Bartholomew is both an offensive and defensive powerhouse. His ability to remove even undispellable buffs makes him a nightmare for heroes that rely on stubborn buffs. The built-in healing and counterattack buff add survivability, while his passive fiend generation pressures the enemy constantly.
Average mana speed slows him down compared to faster threats. He also requires fiends on the field to maximize his damage potential.
Best Role: Anchor for defense teams or a secondary damage dealer in offense who punishes buff-heavy teams.
Elsbeth (Nature/Green – Paladin Class)
Base Stats (no emblems):
- Attack: 1277
- Defense: 1248
- Health: 2235
Max Path Stats:
- Attack: 1831
- Defense: 1690
- Health: 3093
Mana Speed: Fast
Special Skill – Verdant Punishment
- Deals 600% damage to the target.
- If the target has fiends/mega fiends, also deals 500% damage to a random different enemy.
- Summons a seedling fiend for each enemy hit.
- Caster and nearby allies gain +44% defense, increasing by 10% every time they are hit (up to +94%) for 3 turns.
Elsbeth is a fast, heavy hitter who punishes fiend-infested enemies by chaining her damage across multiple targets. Her defensive buff can skyrocket under pressure, making her a wall for surviving focus fire. Combined with the passive fiend evolution, she can overwhelm opponents quickly.
Her extra hit depends on fiends being present, so she is less reliable early in battles. Like Bartholomew, her power scales with time, meaning she shines in longer fights rather than quick skirmishes.
Best Role: Primary damage dealer on offense, or a strong flank in defense teams who ramps up protection for allies while dealing massive damage.
Pull Odds in Harvest Summon
- Featured Legendary Heroes (Bartholomew, Elsbeth): 2% each
- Legendary Non-Featured Heroes: 2.3%
- Hero of the Month: 1.3%
Each summon also comes with a guaranteed Harvest Bonus Draw, with a chance to score up to +9 additional draws. The majority will land at +1, but lucky players could see several extra pulls in one go.
Bartholomew and Elsbeth are both strong additions with unique mechanics that revolve around constant fiend generation and scaling damage.
Bartholomew punishes buff-heavy teams, offers survivability, and creates endless pressure with his passives.
Elsbeth provides a faster, harder-hitting option who doubles as a tanky defender with her scaling defense buff.
Together, they make a terrifying duo. Even if you don’t pull them now, expect them to reappear in the Covenant Portal or future featured summons. For anyone lucky enough to land one, be prepared to build around their fiend synergy.
