Dead Rails POTION GUIDE – How to Craft & Recipe
How Potions Work in Dead Rails
To start brewing potions, you need glass bottles, which can now be found almost anywhere in the wild. These bottles can contain:
- Water
- Milk
- Blood
- Kerosene
And two special ones you can craft:
- Zombie Blood
- Unicorn Blood (yes, really)
You collect blood types by using an empty bottle on pools of blood from dead enemies. Unicorn blood is obtained the same way, but from special unicorn enemies (or magical variants in-game).
Potion Recipes & Effects
Let’s break down each potion, how to make it, and when to use it.
1. Angel Tears
Ingredients:
- Unicorn Blood
- Regular Blood
Effect:
- Heals injuries over time while you’re standing in the potion.
- Healing is continuous as long as you remain in the puddle.
How to Use:
- Combine both liquids on the ground, then collect with a bottle.
- Pour on the floor, stand in it, and heal up.
Best Use Case:
Pre-battle prep—apply before a tough fight. Not ideal mid-combat due to the setup time.
Great alternative to snake oil.
2. Devil Tears
Ingredients:
- Unicorn Blood
- Kerosene
Effect:
- When ignited, sets everything around you on fire.
- Extremely dangerous without proper fire resistance.
How to Use:
- Mix on the ground, bottle it, pour on yourself.
- Get ignited (via enemy attack or intentional fire source).
- Boom—AOE fire explosion.
Best Use Case:
- If you’re playing Arsonist, this is your dream potion.
- Avoid using it casually—you will burn to death.
3. Holy Water (Crafted)
Ingredients:
- Water
- Unicorn Blood
Effect:
- Instantly kills nearby enemies using green holy flames.
- Players are immune to this effect.
How to Use:
- Combine water and unicorn blood, bottle the greenish mix.
- Pour it near enemies for instant results.
Best Use Case:
- Group fights, especially when overwhelmed.
- Doesn’t replace actual holy water found in churches, but still powerful.
4. Primordial Soup
Ingredients:
(Not fully disclosed, but assumed to be complex mixture involving bloods and possible magical components.)
Effect:
- Revives dead bodies to fight for you.
- Works similar to the Jade Mask, but portable and repeatable.
How to Use:
- Pour at least half a bottle onto a corpse.
- Revived corpses become allies.
Best Use Case:
- Strong synergy with corpse-carrying strategy.
- Can build a mini-army by reviving and placing bodies in key positions.
