Dart System
In Beaks, darts are more than just your standard ammo—they’re the heart of the entire hunting system, acting as a strategic bait mechanic that can dramatically change your gameplay.
Each dart comes with its own set of stats like speed, damage, and distance, but what truly sets them apart are their unique effects. For example, Golden Darts are solid all-rounders with high speed and damage, making them great for everyday use.
Claws Darts boost speed—perfect for chasing down those insanely fast birds. And then there’s the Mythical Dart—stat-wise, it’s weak across the board, but it gives you a 5% chance to mutate a bird into a mythical variant, which could be your ticket to catching some of the rarest species in the game.
If you see a bird that looks out of place or extra special, switch to a Mythical Dart—you might just walk away with a legendary catch.
Weapons
Your rifle stats directly affect your ability to catch birds. Here are some key stats you should watch for:
- Speed (Studs/Sec): How fast your shot travels.
- Fire Rate: The delay between each shot.
- Distance: How far your shots go.
- Handling: Affects ease of use and aim.
For example:
The Hunter’s Rifle is stronger than the default Beak Rifle and works better in higher-tier areas like Mount Beaks.
Some weapons require higher levels to unlock or special permissions (like dev status), but one free test weapon is available early on.
Birds & Rarity System
Birds spawn randomly in different regions, and each has its own rarity. Some even mutate when hit with specific darts. You can capture birds and sell them for cash, which you use to upgrade your gear.
Common Bird Example: Pigeon (1 in 10 chance)
Rare Bird Example: Stonebow (1 in 333 chance)
Legendary Bird: Ashwing (confirmed in early access)
Mythical Birds: Only appear in foggy nights, near graveyards or desolate trees.
📖 There’s also a Beak Book (in-game bestiary) that tracks discovered birds, their regions, and how to find secret species.
Regions & Secrets
So far, here’s what we know about regions:
Mount Beaks: High-level birds, needs stronger gear.
Beakwood: Early exploration zone.
Quill Lake: Likely water-themed birds.
Secret Areas: Graveyards, pine trees, etc. – Explore during foggy nights.
Use binoculars to spot birds from a distance before moving in with your rifle. This is key to catching rare or fast-moving species without spooking them.
